Curriculum Programme (PPA Solutions)
If you need to release teachers from contact time with pupils, or just wish to provide pupils with professional, expert PE lessons look no further than our curriculum programme.
This has been created in line with national curriculum requirements and includes modules such as spatial awareness and invasion games. We can provide one or more coaches depending on how many children we are working with and can adapt the coaching to include specific material as requested by teachers. Contact us to discuss your school's requirements.
The Coaching
Sessions will naturally be age appropriate and will follow a programme of development starting with individual technique and skill work and gradually progressing to teamwork and tactical understanding. As a company we do not believe in lines of children waiting for their turn so provide one ball each whenever we can to encourage maximal participation which speeds up the learning process and makes lesson time more enjoyable. An hour long curriculum session would follow the structure below:
-
Introduction
A brief talk on what the session is setting out to achieve and why the topic is relevant to football and other sports. -
Warm Up
10 minutes of movement games including dynamic stretching with or without a ball, which will prepare pupils for the rest of the session and will help them understand how the body works and the importance of being prepared for physical activity. -
Speed Agility Quickness
10 minutes of co-ordinated movement activities to encourage players to jog, run and jump in the correct manner. This will aid general body posture when moving but will also allow them to develop stronger, more agile and quicker muscle groups and learn the names of body parts and muscles and how they function. -
Game-Based Activities
35 minutes of games and exercises with a ball which will improve individual ability and confidence and teach players about the importance of concentration, communication, good practice and teamwork in order to achieve personal and team success. -
Debrief
A quick question and answer summary of what was taught in the session to gauge the understanding of pupils and the effectiveness of the session. Further tips on self practice and improvement will also be provided.
Numeracy & Literacy Skills
As well as the educational coaching we can also provide sessions which aim to test and develop academic skills in an informal environment. During sessions where teams are playing in games or small sided matches, pupils who are not playing can complete worksheets which have been created to develop mathematical and writing ability.
Sessions can include pupils recording the number of successful and unsuccessful shots, passes or tackles made by a team and then at the end work out totals, fractions, percentages, means and medians. Another example is pupils making notes during a small sided match or game and then creating a match report by the end of the lesson. These lessons will be delivered by our fully qualified and trained staff and any work created in lessons can also be marked by our coaches or left to teachers to mark and provide feedback on.
